PeopleFinders (peoplefinders.com) is one of the largest people-search data brokers in the US, aggregating voter records, phone directories, property records, and more. It is also the data source powering USATrace and other aggregator sites — removing yourself here eliminates you from those downstream sites as well. Removal is free but requires two steps: an email verification gate followed by a detailed form. Processing takes 3 days.

⏱ Time: 10 min (plus waiting for email link)
🎯 Difficulty: Medium
📋 Method: Email-gated removal form (name + email → email link → detailed form)
⏳ Processing: 3 days after form submission
📂 Category: Professional / Social / Other

REMOVAL STEPS

  1. Go to the opt-out page
    Visit peoplefinders.com/do-not-sell

  2. Enter your name and email address
Provide your first name, last name, and email address. Complete the captcha, then click Submit.

  3. Check your email and click the removal link
PeopleFinders will send a link to your email address. Click it to open the removal form. Note: the link expires after 24 hours — if you wait longer than that, you will need to restart the process.

  4. Fill out the detailed removal form
    The form requires:

    • First name (required), middle name (optional), last name (required)

    • Email address and phone number (optional but recommended for accurate matching)

    • Date of birth (month, day, year)

    • Street address, city, and state (required)

Fill out the form accurately. PeopleFinders warns that omitting or falsifying information — such as entering a fake date of birth — will hinder the removal process and may prevent all your records from being found.

  5. Check the certification box and submit
Certify that you are the subject of the request (or an authorized agent), then click Submit.

  6. Wait 3 days
PeopleFinders will process your request within 3 days. You will receive a confirmation email when complete.

  7. Verify removal
After 3 days, search your name on peoplefinders.com to confirm your listing has been removed.

TIPS

  • PeopleFinders powers USATrace and other aggregator sites. Opting out here removes your data from those downstream sites as well. If you have already submitted a block request on USATrace, completing this opt-out at the source is the more effective step.

  • PeopleFinders warns that even after removal, your data may reappear because they regularly receive new public records from government sources. They recommend periodically refreshing your opt-out request.

  • Removing your data from PeopleFinders does not remove it from its original sources (voter rolls, property records, etc.) — only from PeopleFinders' aggregated product.

  • If your record reappears after removal, repeat the opt-out process.
