How to Blur Your Home in Google Maps Street View
Google Maps Street View captures ground-level imagery of most residential streets. If your home has been photographed, anyone can view your front door, landscaping, vehicles, and address markers from their browser.
Google allows you to request a permanent blur of your home — for free, with no account required. Once applied, the blur is permanent and cannot be reversed, even by Google.
Step 1: Find your home in Street View
Go to maps.google.com and search your home address. Click and drag the Street View pegman (the orange figure) onto your street, or click "See outside" if prompted. You should now be looking at a ground-level view of your property.
Step 2: Open "Report a problem"
In the bottom-right corner of the Street View image, click "Report a problem." This opens Google's image reporting form.
Step 3: Position the red box over your home
The form shows a cropped version of the Street View image with a red box you can reposition. Drag the box to center it on your home — the front of the house, your door, your address numbers.
Step 4: Select the correct category
Under "Request blurring," select "My home." Add any additional context in the description field if helpful (e.g., "entire front of house visible including address").
Step 5: Enter your email and submit
Provide an email address where Google can send a confirmation. Submit the request. Google typically processes blur requests within a few days to a few weeks.
Step 6: Check the result
Once processed, return to Street View at your address to confirm the blur is applied. If the image hasn't updated, try clearing your browser cache or checking back after a few more days.
Apple Maps
Apple Maps has a similar option. Open maps.apple.com, navigate to your address, enter Look Around (Street View equivalent), and click "Report an Issue" in the lower-left corner to request blurring.
